Another Night in New Liberty
dust and pollution
the sunsets have been wonderful
for as long i've lived in this city
corpse colours
green, orange, brown, skullbone blue
moonrises too
we watched yet another
sitting at the edge of the river
throwing coins and singing
to the bodies floating past
down the Muddy River
cellphone towers, dozens
all directions, all distances
pulsing redlight resounance
so beautiful, like giant religious symbols
on the horizon
we drove to one
climbed for what seemed like hours
and settled at the top
the metal crows' nest
so far from the ground
that we could all hear the stars singing
sad songs and sombre requiems
